South Africa Edges Past Pakistan with 10-Run Victory

In the first T20I, South Africa secured a 10-run victory over Pakistan, taking a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. The match, held on Monday evening at the Multan Cricket Stadium, saw Pakistan chasing a target of 133 runs. The chase got off to a rocky start as Pakistan lost half their side by the 13th over with only 47 runs on the board. Captain Fatima Sana then joined forces with Aliya Riaz, and together they formed a crucial, unbeaten 75-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Despite their efforts, Pakistan fell 10 runs short of the target.

     Pakistan’s Chase Falls Short

Fatima Sana contributed a solid unbeaten 37 off 24 balls, including five boundaries. Aliya Riaz, on the other hand, reached her second T20I half-century, remaining not out with 52 off 39 balls, featuring five fours and a six.

     South Africa’s Key Performers

For South Africa, Marizanne Kapp and Tumi Sekhukhune each took two wickets. Earlier, South Africa, having been put into bat first, scored 132 for 4 in their allotted 20 overs. Sadia Iqbal was the standout bowler for Pakistan, taking three wickets for 34 runs in four overs. Her third wicket in the 18th over was her 50th T20I wicket in 41 matches.

For South Africa, Tazmin Brits remained unbeaten on 56 off 63 balls, hitting five boundaries. She formed a 63-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Sune Luus, who scored 27 off 27 balls with four fours.
