    Aleem Dar Set to Retire After Iconic 25-Year Umpiring Career at End of 2024-25 Season.

    An Illustrious Career Spanning Two Decades

    Aleem Dar, a three-time ICC Umpire of the Year, will retire after officiating for nearly 25 years. He has presided over some of cricket’s most memorable moments, making his mark on the game with his impeccable decision-making and calm demeanor.

    A Journey from Player to Umpire

    Before his remarkable umpiring career, Dar played in 17 first-class and 18 List-A matches from 1986 to 1998. He debuted as an umpire in the 1998-99 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, later becoming a prominent member of the ICC Elite Panel for 20 years.

    Legacy Beyond Numbers

    With a record 145 Tests, 231 ODIs, and 72 T20Is, Aleem Dar’s contributions to cricket go beyond statistics. His professionalism and integrity have earned him the admiration of players and fans alike.

    A Focus on Social Work and Mentorship

    Dar has announced his intention to focus on his social and charity work, particularly a hospital project close to his heart. He will also remain committed to mentoring the next generation of umpires.

    Aleem Dar has established himself as one of cricket’s most esteemed umpires, with a career filled with remarkable achievements. A prominent member of the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires, Dar’s commitment to excellence has earned him a reputation that extends beyond the cricket field.

    Three-Time David Shepherd Trophy Winner

    Dar’s exceptional performance was recognized when he won the prestigious David Shepherd Trophy for ICC Umpire of the Year three consecutive times from 2009 to 2011. His consistent excellence also earned him nominations in 2005 and 2006, solidifying his position as one of the leading figures in umpiring.

    Breaking Records on the International Stage

    In December 2019, Aleem Dar officiated in his 129th Test match during the thrilling encounter between Australia and New Zealand, surpassing the long-standing record previously held by renowned umpire Steve Bucknor. Dar continued to break barriers in 2020 when he stood in his 210th ODI during the second match between Zimbabwe and Pakistan, overtaking South African umpire Rudi Koertzen’s record.

    Commitment to Development through Education

    Beyond his illustrious umpiring career, Aleem Dar is also dedicated to nurturing future cricket talent. In 2013, he established his own cricket academy, equipped with high-class facilities designed to train aspiring cricketers and enhance their skills.
