Exciting Clash Awaits Between UMT Markhors and Lake City Panthers in Champions Cup Final Today at Iqbal Stadium

The much-anticipated Champions Cup Final will occur today at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, featuring a thrilling contest between UMT Markhors and Lake City Panthers. This decisive match follows thirteen intense encounters in the tournament, with the final set to determine the ultimate champion. The game is scheduled to start at 3:00 PM local time.

    Previous Encounters and Tournament Journey

This will be the third clash between these two formidable teams in the tournament. The opening match saw the Markhors dominating the Panthers, securing a massive victory by 160 runs. However, the Panthers bounced back in the qualifier, defeating the Markhors by 7 wickets. Rain forced the second eliminator between UMT Markhors and Noorpur Lions to be canceled, allowing the Markhors to qualify for the Champions Cup Final as the top team from the league stage.

The Panthers have been in exceptional form, winning four of their five matches leading up to the final. On the other hand, the Markhors have won three out of their six matches, losing two, with one match abandoned due to rain.

Squad Adjustments Ahead of the Champions Cup Final

Both teams have had to make significant changes to their squads due to some players being called up to the Pakistan national team. The Markhors will be without Mohammad Rizwan, Naseem Shah, and Salman Ali Agha, who have been replaced by Bismillah Khan, Niaz Khan, and Zain Abbas.

Similarly, the Panthers have added Danish Aziz and Sajid Khan in place of Saim Ayub and Mubasir Khan. Saim Ayub is currently with the Test squad, while Mubasir Khan is sidelined with a thumb injury.

Balanced Lineups Ready for Champions Cup Final Battle

Both sides boast a balanced combination of batting and bowling strength, making the Champions Cup Final an exciting contest. The Markhors’ batting lineup is led by star players Fakhar Zaman, Kamran Ghulam, Iftikhar Ahmed, Haseebullah, and Abdul Samad. Kamran Ghulam has been in stellar form, scoring 248 runs in the tournament, including two centuries. Their bowling attack will be spearheaded by Zahid Mahmood, Akif Javed, Shahnawaz Dahani, and Mohammad Imran.

On the Panthers’ side, Usman Khan, who is the tournament’s top run-scorer with 259 runs, leads a powerful batting lineup that also includes Haider Ali, Mubasir Khan, Aazan Owais, and captain Shadab Khan. In bowling, Mohammad Hasnain has been outstanding, taking the highest number of wickets in the tournament with 14 to his name, supported by Usama Mir, Shadab Khan, and Ali Raza.
