KARACHI: Pakistan is expected to unveil its squads for the upcoming white-ball series against Australia next week, with reports suggesting that Mohammad Rizwan is a frontrunner for the captaincy.
According to sources, the selection committee favors appointing Rizwan as captain, but the final decision will rest with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who will consult with selectors and other officials before confirming the appointment.
Fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain, who last featured in an ODI in 2023, may also return to the fold following impressive displays in the recent Champions Cup and President’s Cup, which caught the selectors’ attention.
Additionally, all-rounder Aamir Jamal and wicketkeeper-batsman Haseebullah are being considered for selection for the white-ball fixtures in Australia.
The two sides will face off in the second ODI on November 8 at the Adelaide Oval, followed by the third ODI on November 10 at Perth Stadium. After the ODIs, Pakistan will compete in a three-match T20 series against Australia from November 14 to 18.
