Bruno Fernandes Regrets Ten Hag’s Departure

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes recently reached out to former manager Erik ten Hag, expressing regret for not doing more to prevent his dismissal. Following United’s 2-1 defeat to West Ham, which dropped them to 14th in the league, Fernandes admitted that the team’s underperformance contributed to Ten Hag’s exit. He told Sky Sports that it’s tough for everyone at the club when a manager leaves, adding, “As players, we carry part of the blame because our results weren’t good enough. It’s easier to replace the manager than the entire team, but I feel partly responsible for not delivering, especially with my goal-scoring.”

Leadership Critique and Optimism for the Future

Former captain Roy Keane offered a blunt response to Fernandes’ comments, criticizing what he saw as a lack of loyalty and leadership among the players. “If you’re looking for loyalty, get a dog,” Keane remarked, adding that some players seemed indifferent to the club’s struggles. Despite these criticisms, interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy saw positive signs, emphasizing that the team is creating many opportunities, even if they’re not always finishing. “The goals will come once we find our rhythm,” he reassured.

A New Era with Ruben Amorim

As incoming manager Ruben Amorim prepares to join United after the international break, Bruno Fernandes reflected on his past connection to Amorim’s work at Sporting Lisbon, where the manager transformed the club’s atmosphere. “He brought excitement and unity to Sporting,” said Bruno Fernandes, adding that he hopes for a similar positive impact at United. Van Nistelrooy, meanwhile, is uncertain of his future with United as Amorim’s arrival approaches, but he remains optimistic about the progress the team can make.
