Oman: In the ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup, Pakistan Shaheens defeated Oman by 74 runs.
In a Group B match at the Oman Cricket Academy Ground, Pakistan Shaheens won the toss and opted to bat first, scoring 185 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.
Oman managed to score only 111 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in their 20 overs.
In the fourth over of Pakistan Shaheens’ innings, Mazhar Raza claimed the wickets of captain Muhammad Haris (3) and Yasar Khan (3), after which Qasim Akram and Umair Bin Yousuf propelled the score from 13 to 85.
Umair Bin Yousuf was dismissed after scoring 25 runs. Qasim Akram scored 48 runs with the help of 2 fours and 3 sixes. Abdul Samad contributed with 20 runs, which included 2 fours and 1 six.
When Pakistan Shaheens lost their fifth wicket in the fifteenth over, the score was 116 runs. At this point, Rohail Nazir and Ifrat Munhas aggressively batted, adding 69 runs for the sixth wicket partnership, taking the total to 185.
Rohail Nazir played a quick innings, scoring 41 not out off 20 balls, hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes.
In the final over bowled by Mazhar Raza, Ifrat Munhas hit two sixes and two fours to score 31 runs off just 15 balls and remain undefeated.
The Pakistani bowling attack was never threatened by Omani batsmen. Oman’s top scorer, Wasim Ali, scored 28 runs, followed by captain Jitender Singh’s 24.
Shah Nawaz Dahani, Sufiyan Maqeem, Qasim Akram, Ifrat Munhas, and Mohammad Imran all claimed one wicket each, while Zaman Khan claimed two.
The third and final group match for the Pakistan Shaheens is scheduled for October 23 against the United Arab Emirates.
