New Zealand Women Crush India by 58 Runs in Dominant T20 Performance

Dubai, UAE – In a thrilling encounter at the Dubai International Stadium, New Zealand Women outclassed India Women with a commanding 58-run victory in a T20 match. Led by an all-round team effort, the Kiwis posted a competitive total of 160/4, before dismantling the Indian batting lineup, restricting them to just 102 in 19 overs.

    New Zealand’s Batting Powerhouse

After winning the toss and electing to bat, New Zealand set the tone for the match with a strong batting display. Skipper Sophie Devine anchored the innings with a blistering 57* off 36 balls, which included 7 boundaries. She was well-supported by Georgia Plimmer, who played an explosive knock of 34 from just 23 deliveries. Suzie Bates (27 off 24) and Brooke Halliday (16 off 12) added vital contributions to the scoreboard.

India’s bowlers found it tough to contain the New Zealand batters, with Renuka Singh emerging as the most successful bowler for India, taking 2 wickets for 27 runs in her 4 overs. Asha Sobhana also bowled economically, claiming 1 wicket for 22 runs in her 4 overs.

    India’s Batting Collapse

Chasing 161, India got off to a shaky start, losing Shafali Verma (2) early in the second over, caught and bowled by Eden Carson. Indian opener Smriti Mandhana (12) fell shortly after, as wickets tumbled at regular intervals. The middle order, including Harmanpreet Kaur (15) and Jemimah Rodrigues (13), couldn’t steady the ship as New Zealand’s bowlers took control.
