Pakistan Women’s Team Prepares for ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024

Dubai:The highly anticipated ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is set to kick off tomorrow in the UAE, featuring ten teams over an exciting 18-day competition. The Pakistan women’s cricket team is placed in Group A, competing against Australia, India, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka, while Group B consists of Bangladesh, England, Scotland, South Africa, and the West Indies.

Under the captaincy of Fatima Sana, the Pakistan team will begin their campaign against Sri Lanka at Sharjah Cricket Stadium tomorrow. One of the tournament’s highlights will be their match against arch-rivals India on 6 October at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium (DICS). Following this, they will face the defending champions, Australia, on 11 October and conclude their group stage against New Zealand on 14 October, both matches taking place at DICS.

The tournament format dictates that the top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals scheduled for 17 and 18 October, with the final set for 20 October at DICS, where the first ball is expected to be bowled at 6 PM local time.

In preparation for the tournament, Pakistan participated in two warm-up matches against Scotland and Bangladesh, in addition to various practice sessions to adapt to the conditions.

Captain Fatima Sana expressed her confidence in the team’s readiness, stating, “Our preparations have been thorough for this major event. The series against South Africa at home prior to our arrival in the UAE allowed us to identify our strengths and enabled our batters to find their rhythm.”
