In a remarkable performance, Pakistan claimed only their second victory in Australia in 19 years, defeating the hosts convincingly in the second ODI on November 8. Playing in Adelaide, Pakistan bowled out Australia for a mere 163 runs, thanks to Haris Rauf’s exceptional five-wicket haul.
Chasing the modest total, Pakistan made quick work of the run chase. Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique built a solid opening partnership of 137 runs off just 121 balls. Ayub dazzled the crowd with his aggressive knock of 82 runs, hitting six massive sixes before Adam Zampa got his wicket. Shafique remained unbeaten on 64, and Babar Azam, coming in after Ayub’s dismissal, added a composed 15* to see Pakistan through to victory in only 26.3 overs.
Under the leadership of their new captain, Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan had narrowly lost the first ODI by two wickets. With this win, the series now stands at 1-1, with the decider set for November 10.

This victory is a historic achievement for Pakistan, marking their first win in any format against Australia on their soil since January 2017. Overall, since January 2005, Pakistan have only managed to secure two wins in Australia. Across the 21st century, their record includes six ODI victories in 45 encounters in Australia. Their most recent Test win in Australia dates back to November 1995, and they are yet to register a win in T20I cricket there.
