UEFA has announced that a minute’s silence will take place before Thursday’s Nations League clash between England and Greece, in remembrance of George Baldock, the Greek international who recently passed away.
In a statement, UEFA extended its condolences to Baldock’s family, the Hellenic Football Federation (HFF), and Panathinaikos FC, where he played. Following a request from the HFF, both teams will don black armbands during the match at Wembley Stadium.
Baldock, who earned 12 caps for Greece after making his international debut in February 2022, was found deceased at the age of 31 in his swimming pool at home in Glyfada, a suburb of southern Athens. Police sources reported the time of death as 10 p.m. local time (7 p.m. GMT), with the cause still unknown.
