Safeer Hussain Naqvi Takes Charge as Director for Khelta Punjab Hockey Event, Multan’s Young Talent Gears Up!
The Sports Department of Multan Hockey Academy has appointed Safeer Hussain Naqvi as the Tournament Director for the upcoming Khelta Punjab hockey event. Farooq Latif, the District Sports Officer of Multan, made the announcement in preparation for the Under-22 District Hockey Tournament. This event is part of the Khelta Punjab Games 2024, held under the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
Scheduled to take place from October 10 to October 12 at the AstroTurf Hockey Stadium in Mati Tal, Multan, the tournament promises to showcase the best young hockey talent in the region.

In addition to Naqvi, Mujahid Rafiq Mirza has been named as Assistant Director for the event. The organizing committee will also include key officials such as Muhammad Arsalan, Umair Akram, Syed Zulqarnain, Ali Raza Khakwani, Muhammad Tanveer, Khalil Ahmed, and Faheem Abbas. The umpiring panel will feature Asif Mahmood, Sami Ali, Abdul Wahab, Wasim Abbas, Tayyib, and Abdul Manan.
Safeer Hussain Naqvi shared details about the tournament rules, stating that only players born after December 13, 2002 will be eligible to participate. Players must be residents of District Multan and must provide their B-form along with their father’s ID card and Family Registration Certificate (FRC). Each team will comprise 16 players and two officials, and all players are required to wear complete uniforms on the field. Teams found submitting false documents will be immediately disqualified.
At the district level, the winning team will be awarded 100,000 PKR, while the runner-up will receive 50,000 PKR.
This tournament aims to promote hockey at the grassroots level and foster young talent in Multan.
